Gemini and Apollo Astronaut Jim Lovell was the first astronaut to make four spaceflights. In December 1965 he was pilot of Gemini 7, spending 14 days in space, a record at the time, and the following November commanded Gemini 12, the last Gemini mission. In December 1968 he was command module pilot of Apollo 8, man's first flight around the Moon, and in April 1970 commanded Apollo 13, a planned lunar landing that had to be aborted because of an explosion aboard the Apollo Service module. Lovell, and astronauts Swigert and Haise turned their lunar module into a lifeboat and returned safely to Earth. James Arthur Lovell, Jr., was born March 25, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended the University of Wisconsin for two years, then entered the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, graduating in 1952 with a BS degree. He later attended Harvard Business School (1971). Lovell received flight training following graduation from Annapolis and served at a number of navy bases until entering the US Naval Test Pilot Schoolat Patuxent River, Maryland, in 1958. During a four-year tour of duty at Pax River, Lovell was program manager for the F-4H Phantom. He was safety engineer for Fighter Squadron 101 at the Naval Air Station in Oceana, Virginia, when selected by NASA.

James Lovell is a Garifuna originally from Belize in the early nineties. Born with a gift to sing, this ability gave him the opportunities to perform in elementary and high school talent shows in Belize, and neighboring countries.
After graduating from high school, James joined the Belize Police Band where he learned to play several instruments such as the guitar, bass guitar, clarinet, euphonium, saxophone and keyboards. While in the Police Band, James took advanced music correspondence courses from the Royal School of Music in England. He learned how to read music and to arrange musical compositions.
In 1990, James put his music career on hold and joined the United States Marine Corp. Four years later he received an honorable discharged.
James is also the Music Director as well as the Vice-President of Ilagulei (roots) Garifuna performing Arts Company Inc. In 1995 he produced his First CD Titled Cabasa Numari (who is going to be my wife); James is the original author of this song, however it was first recorded by La Tribu Garifuna. In addition Estrellas Ubow pre-recorded Hesientibunu (I like you) which was also written by James. James is currently signed to Punta Rock Records, one of the largest Record Label Companies promoting the Garifuna Artist/ Bands.

James is a teacher with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of North Texas and an Associate of Applied Science in Commercial Music - Recording Technology from Cedar Valley Community College. His creativity and discipline has led him through a path of awards and honors including a Jazz scholarship recieved while attending Brookhaven College. From his first classes at The Dallas Arts Magnet to Jazz Guitar Master Class with Jack Petersen of UNT, his determination to grow as a professional musician and teacher continues.
Teaching Style:
Beginning students focus on basic chord structure, strumming, and finger picking to help the student develop a love for the instrument.
