However, his former interests shined through as he crafted himself into a thinking man’s comic, whose esoteric ramblings and everyman spoofs have led to legions of adoring fans. Not content to rely on the slapstick he was so good at, Martin combined in-depth and thoughtful monologues with his zany stand up acts.
