THE McLEAN COMMUNITY ADMISSION OFFICE The Admission Office is the primary information resource for prospective students and their families. Open houses and individual campus visits are our opportunity to introduce McLean's mission to anyone interested in learning more about the school. Additionally, the Admission Office is responsible for the exchange of pertinent information throughout the application process. Please contact the office for a list of procedures, dates, and requirements for the 2001-2002 school year. BUSINESS OFFICE The Business Office staff is responsible for many of the day-to-day operations of the school, including safety, security, finance and insurance, personnel benefits, and building and grounds maintenance. The Assistant Head/Business Manager works closely with the Board of Trustees to provide financial over sight of the school's programs. The Business Office staff is available to discuss tuition, fees and the tuition refund plan. In addition, field trips, lost books, and other student-related functions are handled through this office. DEVELOPMENT OFFICE The Development Office is responsible for publications, public relations, alumni and constituent relations, and fund raising. The Office acts as liaison between the school and the McLean Parents Association, assisting the Association with select special events, providing informational, logistical and staff support. The office prepares press releases and advertising, publishes McLean Magazine and the Head's Newsletter, is responsible for the Alumni/ae Association, and is keeper of the school's alumni/ae and philanthropic records. The Director of Development works closely with the Board of Trustees in garnering philanthropic support for the school. Annual giving, major gifts, planned gifts, capital and endowment or special purpose campaigns are directed and supported by the Office with critical help from volunteers drawn for McLean's alumni/ae and parent bodies (current and past), and from grandparents, faculty, staff and friends.

Michelle turned over in her bed, her short reddish-brown hair spread out across the pillow. She opened her green eyes and sat up yawning. Michelle noticed it was past 10 am. That's strange, she thought, they usually don't let anyone sleep past 9. Michelle had been in the adoption center for 3 years, since she was 14. She sighed as she saw the note next to her bed. However, I am planning to visit Porto de Galinhas and Jao Perssoa this week (local beaches)...and will be moving on to Fortaleza next week...I think. CORRECTION to HEART CONDITION: JOURNAL: March 9, 2000 (Thur) - to go hiking with them around some of the hills and streams nearby. Lencois is in the heart of the area called Chapada Diamantina which is a large region consisting of rocky hills, cliffs, streams, and waterfalls...really a lovely, outdoorsy area...very peaceful...and devoid of Raggae music! We went walking up the hills which had lovely streams running down them. The streams had carved out channels in the rock and also had opened up some holes large enough to swim and relax in. We all went swimming in a couple in no hurry.

The Wedding o' Westfield There is another song which uses the phrase 'go to the broom' directly. This song has many versions - it may be called Allan McLean Sally Allen The Wedding of Westfield or The Four Students . It occupies several pages of the Greig Duncan collection Book 7, with many versions, and it's an excellent 3/4 tune which is very simple and easy to sing. Here is my conflation and adbridgement of the various different versions, together with a short MP3 sound file which indicates the tune of my preference - the variations are considerable. The MPEG track is 152Kb and it sounds perfect. This is a one-mike recording on Sony Minidisk - Lowden S25J nylon string used acoustically, one Creative Labs condensor mike placed on the seat in front of me, no effects. Just play and sing. It is played with a Drop D tuning, in D, and the only chords required are D, G and A with an optional Bm and Em in the penultimate bar. It can be tackled entirely using D and G with a D drone and works equally well, with small amendments, played modally with dulcimer. As it is a very short and simple tune I see no particular reason why a complete harmonic variant - shifting the structure to a related minor, perhaps - should not be used to give the song some relief for a selected verse. An alternative would be to shift the entire thing up a full tone for the closing three verses. Apparently, the song is or was popular in North East Scotland and was recorded in the past, but it does not seem to be in the repertoire of bands today and I've never heard it live, or noticed it on albums. I notice that the different version give various birthplaces - Cheshire, Sheffield, Paris, the Colonies and non-existent stuff like Cholshire and Freeburgh - so I would assume that singers were in the habit of customising the song to suit wherever they were singing.
