Charles Gunn Charles kämpft in einer Street Gang gegen die Vampire von LA. Nicht gerade als ein Kind von Traurigkeit hat er einige Straftaten wie Diebstahl, Störung der öffentlichen Ruhe etc. begangen. K leine Delikte, die seinen Lebensunterhalt finanzieren und die Jagd nach den Blutsaugern lukrativ machen. Bis er auf Angel trifft. Der ist nicht gerade beigeistert von der Show die Gunn da abzieht. Schließlich ist die Vampirjagd kein Spiel. Doch Charles zeigt sich wenig beeindruckt von der Moralpredigt und reizt auch weiter das Risiko voll aus. Doch dann soll sich alles ändern: Ein Fehlverhalten kommt ihm teuer zu stehen. Vampire gelingt es seine Schwester zu entführen. Als Gunn sie letztendlich findet, ist sie längst ein Vampir und er muss sie pfählen. Diese Erfahrung verändert seinen Charakter zum Positiven. Während er zuvor dachte, niemand kann ihm und seiner Gang etwas anhaben, hat er seine Lektion fürs Leben erhalten. Und er wird sich immer fragen: Warum? Aber dadurch wird auch sein Hass auf die Vampire noch mehr geschürt.

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the Maryland suburb of Bladensburg, Richards discovered his love for acting at an early age, enrolling in a performing arts high school and appearing in several plays a year. Academically confident and determined to move out to Los Angeles to pursue his acting aspirations, Richards applied to only one college. Not only was he accepted into the University of Southern California, he won numerous scholarships and grants to study theater. Upon graduation, Richards began working steadily in film, television and theater. Playing a rapping bike messenger who believes he is an alien abductee, it was the role of Taj Mahal in the Mark Taper Forum's production of Space that first brought recognition and rave reviews to the young actor. Episode Appearances Season 1 War Zone Blind Date To Shanshu in LA Season 2 Series Regular Charles Gunn Gunn is the leader of an LA street gang that spend their time hunting down vampires and other demons within a small area of LA. He first crossed the path of Angel when the vampire was dealing with a blackmailer and getting (unsurprisingly) the wrong impression laid a trap for when Angel next entered his area. His skill and ingenuity with the trap impressed Angel even while the vampire fought to avoid them and when it looked like coming to a knock down fight, Angel saved Gunn's sister from one of the traps thus earning Angel the right to leave alive. Angel wanted to help Gunn but Gunn refused all help until his sister was kidnapped by a vampire nest in order to lure Gunn into a trap. Gunn had to kill his sister after she was turned into a vampire and would have died himself if Angel hadn't staked the vampire leader and persuaded the rest that leaving LA was a far better deal than him killing them all. After this Angel asked Gunn for his help on two occasions. The first was to create a diversion so he could break into the offices of Wolfram and Hart and the second was to watch over Cordelia and Wesley when they lay in the hospital during the events that closed Angel's first year in LA.
