Episode + Synopsis + Review Video Clip + Favorite Quote Bill Moves On
Synopsis:
The WNYX staff mourns the passing of Bill McNeal (the character played by Phil Hartman, who died this past May) in a fifth-season opener that's both wry and moving. The episode opens immediately after the anchorman's memorial service. As usual, the dysfunctional group has trouble dealing with the situation-except for clueless Matthew (Andy Dick) sharp-tongued Bill's favorite target. Matthew isn't sad because he doesn't believe that Bill is dead. It seems the deceased once told him of a "secret plan to drop out of society and move to Afghanistan." Meanwhile, Bill's old foe, Catherine (Khandi Alexander), makes a return visit. Dave Foley, Stephen Root, Joe Rogan, Maura Tierney and Vicki Lewis also star.
Review:
Meet Max Louis
Synopsis:
SNL alum Jon Lovitz joins the cast as Max Louis, Bill McNeal's replacement, in this particularly acerbic episode. With Bill gone, Dave (David Foley) must find a replacement, and he leaves it to the staff to choose between two candidates. The applicant who catches the group's fancy, however, isn't one of Dave's picks, but one from the rejection pile instead. It seems that Max once worked with Bill, making him a sentimental favorite-for everyone but Matthew (Andy Dick), who's determined to despise anyone who takes Bill's job. And there's another problem: Pathologically insecure Max has had 37 jobs in 20 years. Meanwhile, a computer glitch introduced by Joe (Joe Rogan) has the office machines on the fritz. Stephen Root, Maura Tierney, and Vicki Lewis also star.

But the move may cause a few legal headaches for Rogan. NBC reps said yesterday that his deal with the Peacock network is "exclusive" and prevents him from working for other TV shows. Still if all goes according to plan, Rogan will remain with "Fear Factor" and join "The Man Show" later this spring. "The Man Show" faced an uncertain future after co-creator/host Jimmy Kimmel left last year to create and host his ABC late night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Kimmel's "Man Show" co-host, Adam Carolla, is also not expected to return to the cable show, and sole-hosting duties would be given to Rogan, sources said. 46. Wilber (Bullet Joe) Rogan - Biography - Kansas City, Missouri History
Wilber (Bullet joe) rogan. 18891967. Wilber Bullet joe rogan was one of the bestand most versatile players in the history of the Negro Baseball Leagues.
http://www.kclibrary.org/sc/bio/rogan.htm
Wilber (Bullet Joe) Rogan
Baseball Player Wilber "Bullet Joe" Rogan was one of the best and most versatile players in the history of the Negro Baseball Leagues. Known primarily for his fastball, Rogan had an assortment of effective pitches that made him the ace of the pitching staff of the Kansas City Monarchs in the 1920s. He was also a outstanding fielder and a powerful hitter. Satchel Paige , the legendary pitcher, once said of Rogan, "He was the onliest pitcher I ever saw, I ever heard of in my life, was pitching and hitting in the clean-up place. He was a chunky little guy, but he could throw hard." Wilber Rogan was born in Oklahoma City in 1889 and moved with his family in 1908 to Kansas City, Kansas, where he attended Sumner High School. He played on several semi-pro teams in the Kansas City area, as well as in the Army. In 1917, on a tip from Casey Stengel, manager of the New York Yankees and a former Kansas Citian, J. L. Wilkinson hired Rogan to pitch for the All Nations, a mixed-race team. A few years later, at the age of 30, Rogan moved to Wilkinson's Kansas City Monarchs, of the newly-chartered Negro National League. Bullet Rogan was a star player for the Monarchs for eleven seasons. During that period, he led the team in home runs and stolen bases three times, while twice, as a pitcher, lead the league in wins. In 1926, nearing the end of his playing career, Rogan became the team's manager, a position he held off and on through the 1936 season. He retired from the Monarchs in 1938 and worked an umpire for the Negro American League until 1946, when he went to work for the post office in Kansas City.

47. The Baseball Guru - NEW LIGHT ON BULLET JOE ROGAN By John B. Holway
I've just finished The Kansas City Monarchs 19201938 featuring BulletJoe rogan, the greatest player in Cooperstown, by Phil Dixon.
http://baseballguru.com/jholway/analysisjholway21.html
John Holway Negro Leagues I've just finished "The Kansas City Monarchs 1920-1938 featuring Bullet Joe Rogan, the greatest player in Cooperstown," by Phil Dixon. It's a breakthrough book with a wealth of details and pictures never before published. NEW LIGHT ON BULLET JOE ROGAN By John B. Holway I told Phil earlier that I wouldn't quarrel with his premise, and now I'm glad I didn't. He makes a strong case. At the very least, Rogan and Babe Ruth were the two greatest double-threat men, pitching and hitting, of all time. In his heyday, Rogan could win 20 games, bat .400, and slug homers at a pace of 40 per 550 at bats. And Joe stood 5'6", he wouldn't even come up to Babe's armpits. Phil corrects some long-held errors, including my own. He puts Joe's birth four years later than everyone else had. So where I say he debuted at age 30 in 1920, Phil puts him at age 26. And he says Casey Stengel did not discover Joe in Arizona in 1918, playing with an army team at Fort Huachuca. Casey and many others had known about Joe several years before that. It is true, however, that Casey and his all stars played Joe and his doughboy teammates. When I asked Case about it in Cooperstown 30 years ago, I got a typical Stengelese answer. Quoting from my book, "Blackball Stars," Ol' Case' said: "I first saw Rogan down below Albuquerque. We were down near the Mexican border, and the army brought these buglers and made all the soldiers line up and march across the field like this and pick up pebbles and rocks so we could play.

Evidently, Sherdog is Not a Factor for Joe Rogan
June 28, 2002
By Mike Sloan Most things in life are better late than never, and with the case of this interview I had with Joe Rogan at UFC 36's weigh-in, I'm just thankful that I'm able to type it up. Shortly after the 36th installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, this tape was lost during a move somewhere deep within the haunting depths of a cardboard box filled with various items. After angrily searching for the tape to no avail, I thought for sure that I'd never be able to post this interview anywhere, let alone get another one with Joe Rogan, the host of the hit TV show on NBC, Fear Factor . Joe is an amazingly busy dude and thanks to our mutual friend, Dana White, I was able to pin him down before he emceed the UFC X-Box tournament and weigh-in. Here is what the funnier-than-hell Rogan had to say: Mike Sloan : Hey Joe, you used to be a part of the UFC. You were the guy who used to interview the fighters before and after the fights. Why did you stop doing that? Joe Rogan : Well, I didn't really have the time. It was too hectic between News Radio and my touring stand-up (comedy act). I was always travelling, doing stand-up and then flying into Devil's Asshole, Alabama doing the old UFCs. It was just too hard, but I was still a fan. I followed it very closely.

Evidently, Sherdog is Not a Factor for Joe Rogan
June 28, 2002
By Mike Sloan Mike Sloan : Do you have any personal favorite fighters? Joe Rogan Mike Sloan : Are you a big boxing fan, too? Joe Rogan : I'm a huge boxing fan. Absolutely. Roy Jones is my favorite boxer without a doubt. I think he's probably one of the greatest fighters of all time. Everybody always says that Roy Jones hasn't fought anybody that's any good, but I disagree. I think he fought a lot of good guys. They just look stupid when they fight him. He's from the planet Roy. He's from another level. Mike Sloan : It sucks because he's stuck in a time when there's relatively nobody great in his division. Joe Rogan : I know. Mike Sloan : What irritates me is when these 'experts' say that Bob Foster would have whipped his ass, Archie Moore would knock him out, etc. Joe Rogan : No, I don't buy that at all. It's bullshit. Let me tell you something, dude; if he ever fought Hagler, he would treat Hagler like a bitch. All those guys. Sugar Ray Leonard, all those guys would get cracked. Mike Sloan : Well, he definitely wouldn't knock out Hagler, that's for sure.

59. SHECKYmagazine.com SHECKY! Interview Joe Rogan
with joe rogan. We hope you enjoy it. rogan is currently hosting NBC's Fear Factor. He'sa real estate salesman from VA named (oddly enough) joe rogan.
http://www.sheckymagazine.com/rogan.htm
This is an encore presentation of the SHECKYmagazine.com Interview! with JOE ROGAN. We hope you enjoy it. Rogan is currently hosting NBC's Fear Factor. An August 7 Reuters article said Fear Factor is a ratings bonanza for NBC, drawing 15 million viewers to its 8 PM Monday slot. The same article mysteriously made no mention of Rogan.
He played Joe Garelli on NBC's News Radio . Anybody who has ever worked at a radio station has known Joe Garelli: the rock-steady tech-head who can fix anythingeven if it isn't broken. Rogan added an edge and a certain measure of mischief to the role and in so doing created a classic TV character right up there with Klinger, Cliffy and Les Nessman.
When the editors of SHECKY! attended the Festival in Montreal, we made a point of witnessing the standup of Joe Rogan when he did the Best of the Fest show at the Comedy Works on Bishop St. It's easy to understand why Rogan cites Sam Kinison and Bill Hicks as influences on his standup.
With News Radio in his rear view, Rogan has plans for CD's, live appearances and more. He managed to squeeze in an interview with SHECKY!Brian McKim
