History of Holywood Parish Church
There is quite a lot here so please feel free to save or print this document to view at your leisure. THE EARLY DAYS - Holywood had the pre Christian name of Ballyderry, derived from the Irish for oakgrove. Since then there had been six others. Ard-Mac-Nasca in 634 for Laiseran (later saint) who was the son of Nasca, a local princess. Sanctus Boscus, the holy wood, in 1210, Haliwode around 1300, East Holewood in 1625. In 1769 it became Hollywood and eventually in 1810, Holywood. It has been assumed that by 500 Ireland had become a Christian country and that Laiseran was born into an area endowed with monasteries at Bangor and Movilla, near Newtownards. He studied at Bangor under St Comgall, lived for some years near Cork and returned before 640 to establish the first church here, in Holywood. It is said to have been near the Motte, a mound today approached from Brook Street. In 642 a letter received from Rome by clerics in Ireland made mention of Laiseran. In 956 Holywood was pillaged by some unwelcome visitors from Scandinavia. The Vikings made a rare appearance in Ireland and carried off treasures from our village.

Protestant Churches before 1853
This list of Protestant Churches is based on "Thom's Irish Almanac and Offical Directory for 1853". A booklet with this material was also printed by The Genealogical Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Civil Parishes are not religious but are units of government. The churches in these Civil Parish are mostly given by the townland in which they are established though in some cases a town is listed. The year next to a church indicates the commencement date of parish registers.
We would like to try to assemble a more complete body of information on these sources of early records. We are trying to obtain a copies of "Church of Ireland Directory" (Dublin: Universal Publishing Co.), and "The Presbyterian Church in Ireland Directory (Belfast: T.H. Jordan). Which will hopefully fill in some of the blank spots, like the fact one church listed for Killevy is St. Luke's in Meigh. In the meantime we would appreciate your help with this, if you have any information on any of these churches please e-mail us at postmaster@mcconville.org

http://www.bestofbridgestone.com/mb/ag0/fo.html
Fontana Recipe
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 bulb of finely chopped fennel
2 fresh red chillies (seeds and stem removed!), finely chopped
200g risotto rice
500g rope mussels, scrubbed clean
1 lemon salt and pepper
1 medium sized red onion
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
2 cloves chopped garlic
300g crab meat
flat leaf parsley Place a heavy-bottomed pan on a high heat (make sure it has a lid that fits). Add the wine when the pot is hot. Quickly add the mussels and cover to steam. The mussels are cooked in a minute. Drain the pot into a colander, taking care to retain the cooking liquid. Wash out the pot, place on a high heat, and add the oil and then the onion, fennel and chili. When the vegetables are soft, add the garlic and fennel seed. Stir to combine, and soften the garlic, and then add the rice. Stir well to coat all the grains with the olive oil, adding more if it seems too dry. Gradually add a ladle at a time of mussel liquid, until absorbed by the rice, stirring continuously. If you need more liquid, add water or wine.

Xander Cage is a shaven-headed, luxuriously tattooed muscleman, who, during the course of his misadventures, beds a lot of sexy laydees and saves the world from a biological weapons assault. This role would suit an ageing rake, seeking the swinging London vote. How about mayoral challenger Steve Norris?

KEY WEST
AN ISLAND IN THE STREAM OF LIFE AND DEATH
Key West is an island of many peoplestourists, artists, writers, and celebrities, not to mention the locals, the "conches," who stay there year-round, as if dog-paddling in the stream and waiting for something to change. And of course there are the Cubans, the people seeking refuge in Florida, who arrive one at a time or one small boatload at a time, always in the midst of night. There's something dangerously seductive about Key West, something that attracts people to its shores, to bask in the tropical heat, the spectacular sunsets, the boats, beaches and bars, and each other. There's also something seductively dangerous: warm breezes can turn to storms, romance can turn to hearthache, and a boat ride can end in disaster. This is the Key West found in Rosalind Brackenbury's Seas Outside the Reef , a sensuous, lushly written novel of love and politics, sailors and tourists, locals and illegal Cubans, danger, sex, and death. It is the story of Emily (or Emilia) De Soto, originally from Cuba, who has come to Key West with a mission: to help smuggle in her Cuban husband, Raul, whom she hasn't seen for fourteen years. But Key West can be as unpredictable as the human heart, and before Raul arrives, Emily has time to fall in love with a local sailor, a man with a weak heart and a strong suit of private demons. When Raul shows up, Emily finds herself battered by emotional and political crosswinds. Before the novel ends, one of these men will claim her loyalty, and the other will die.

"A welcome respite from the blistering diatribes of many famous film critics... A thought-provoking work." Library Journal
With all the upheaval of the 1970s-social, political, sexual, and psychological-it's no wonder that the movies of that decade broke new ground. To the degree that the arts reflect their times, the movies of the 1970s were bound to stretch limits concerning sex ("Carnal Knowledge"), war ("Apocalypse Now"), violence ("Raging Bull"), business ("Save the Tiger"), politics ("All the President's Men"), the media ("Network"), drugs ("Panic in Needle Park"), crime ("The Godfather"), relationships ("Annie Hall"), the environment ("The China Syndrome"), and entertainment ("All that Jazz"). The above list is only a sampler. For a better list, organized chronologically through the spirited decade, consult the Table of Contents in Hollywood's Revolutionary Decade , a newly published collection of film reviews from the Los Angeles Times

I've finished the background, rules and general outline. I'm trying to populate a quality bank of questions for the students right now, but thought I would forward it to you for use. If you have one or more Junior High instructors who would be interested in working on the project, I'd be ecstatic to make it a combined effort. About the Game
Holywood Squares.is designed as a play off of the old TV gameshow Hollywood Squares. This particular edition was written for Junior High School level students, but open license is granted for Sunday School teachers to adapt it to whatever grade level they need. The goal of the game is to reinforce Orthodox doctrines in a fun, memorable format. While more material could be covered in a lecture format, the hope is that kids will enjoy learning the materials and without realizing it, retain them better. Fellowship should also be stressed. The overall intellectual objectives are in accordance with “7
