Fantastic
This book is another welcome addition to the Kerbside series.Absolutely brilliant for both written and exam preparation if your exit exams are designed to test your executive thought processes (as in Australia) rather than just your ability to rote learn material.

I bought this book and the Cataract volume after being very impressed by the Neuro title, when I was preparing for my recent final exam.I could recognise clinical scenarios (patients I have actually treated, and conundrums I have pondered) in at least half the questions.

This book and its sisters are rolled gold; I can't recommend them highly enough.I also think these books will prove their worth into practice: where else can you source opinions from clinicians with an international reputation?You will not regret buying any of these books.It does not replace Kanski, but it is well worth your time to read and re-read this book. ... Glaucoma is one of the main causes of blindness throughout the world.It is characterized by death of the retinal ganglion cells, which is associated with loss of the axons making up the optic nerve. Recent studies have demonstrated support for the classification of glaucoma as a degenerative disease of the central nervous system (CNS). The search for treatment modalities that are effective for all patients with glaucoma has resulted in numerous studies aimed at identifying neuroprotection strategies for the treatment of this disease, like those used for other degenerative diseases of the CNS.

The present book will provide an in-depth examination of the most recent findings regarding glaucoma, including risk factors, diagnosis, clinical monitoring, treatment, and above all, the need for treatment based on the concept of neuroprotection. This research applied Bayesian modeling to medication noncompliance in glaucoma patients. A model-based decision support system using a Bayesian Network was developed to determine whether a patient was complying with the medications prescribed by the physician. Results from this study could potentially improve the decision making process, given the uncertain and incomplete data available to a physician.The model may be generalized to other business situations where a decision has to be made based on incomplete and uncertain data sets.

Bayesian Networks have increasingly become tools of choice in solving problems involving uncertainty in the medical domain. These models have been successfully applied to diagnosis applications. The purpose of this research was to devise a Bayesian framework to assess the compliance with medication in glaucoma patients.
