Extractions: The Steppin' Xpress Clogging Team was formed approximately three years ago in Clare, Iowa by Sudi Regan. Sudi had been a long-time clogger and began to teach the dance form to young girls on her porch. The craze caught on and some adults began to join in. Many, many hours of organization and practice, practice, practice ensued. The end result is Steppin' Xpress The Steppin' Xpress Clogging Team is constantly gearing up for their next performance. The club hosted the 1998 Fall Iowa Clogging Association Convention on October 23-25 in Clare. The club members attended and performed in the Iowa Clogging Association Convention in Altoona in late March. The group recently performed at AppleFest in Fort Dodge as well as the Iowa State Fair. The group also performed with the Fort Dodge Civic Glee Club in November. The group would love to perform for you so drop us a line and we'll get back to you about what type of performance we might have available for you.

Extractions: Auditions Next Week! Welcome to the Wolfpack Clogging Team Homepage. As you might have guessed from that statement, we're a student organization at North Carolina State University The Wolfpack Clogging Team began in 1989 under the direction of Marsha Lester. The first team performance was in December of that year at a women's basketball game at NCSU. Soon, word got out about this group of dancers. Since that time, the team has performed at many schools, retirement homes, and faculty functions. The team has also participated in many competitions. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday and Thursday between 5:30 and 7:30 PM. These rehearsals are held at Carmichael Gym in the dance studio (RM 2307) during the Fall and Spring semesters. Auditions are held in the Spring and Fall. Students interested in joining the team are encouraged to take the introductory clogging class (PE 233), regardless of skill level, so that they become used to the team's style of clogging. Auditions for the spring semester will be held on Tuesday, January 14 and Thursday, January 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. All students are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there!

Flatfoot dancing is largely based on a low-to-the-floor style that emphasizes intricate rhythms and creative percussive dancing. Buck dancing emphasizes percussive rhythms with a greater use of the heel and toe. The style uses a greater bent leg position that distinguishes it from "shuffle" clogging. Enter Qty: This video is designed for the beginning student. The eight basic movements of clogging are illustrated on this tape. Proper fundamentals of timing, posture, and technique are taught. This is a highly recommend tape not only for beginning students but for those who have had prior lessons yet feel that their techniques is lacking. The basic fundamentals are are crucial to develop before moving on to more advanced tapes. Your instructor is Steve Smith, a national and international instructor. Among his credentials - inducted into Clogging Hall of Fame; Co-director of two national championship clogging teams; The U.S. Clogging Championship Individual Male and Male-Female Duet clogging champion for two consecutive years; Kentucky State Championship Individual Male Champion. I started in Georgia, moved to Florida where I formed the first Clogging Club in the Ft Walton Beach area and finally ended up in Colorado. I have formed many clubs here in Colorado, including the Columbine Cloggers, The Wildwood Cloggers, the Mile-Hi Cloggers and the Columbine Kids. I am the founder of the Colorado Clogging Council. Ree Payne I was born in North Carolina. I have been married to my husband Ed for over 45 years. We have 3 daughters, 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. At the present time our oldest daughter and our 2 granddaughters dance with our club. The Wildwood Cloggers The Mile-Hi Clogging Club The Wildwood Cloggers are an exhibition clogging team. They perform at many festivals, private engagements and retirement homes. The Wildwood Cloggers do team routines(with contra and square dance movements) and line dances. This team practices on Sunday nights after the Mile-Hi Clogging Club dance. The Mile-Hi Clogging Club is a for fun club. They meet every Sunday from 6-8pm. This club dances all levels from easy to advanced. New steps and routines are taught almost weekly. There is no need for a partner in this club as most of the dances learned here are line dances. Lessons I teach beginning and intermediate lessons on Sunday Nights from 4:30-6:00pm. You do not need special shoes for the lessons. Just wear comfortable flat bottomed shoes.

Details will be posted in Jan 2003. @coalcountry.org Clogging or Flat Footing is a percussive dance that evolved in these eastern mountains. Its roots are in Irish and Scottish step-dancing as well as African rhythms. It is a cousin to tap dance, though it is rhythmically quite different and is a uniquely American dance form. Why should you clog? It's so much fun! You become the rhythm section on the dance floor, or even on a piece of wood at an outdoor music festival. You feel the driving tunes traveling through your body, not letting your feet stop. You gain a delicate control over your feet that you didn't know you had. You can't help but smile while dancing. And finally (although I can really think of hundreds more things), it really gets your heart beating!
