QUESTION:   Are you a woman? Try to imagine being involved in some type of accident - perhaps a car crash. You survived, but your upper body was horribly cut, torn, and disfigured. Your breasts had to be amputated, and you've been left with massive scars, with very little - if any - of your breasts remaining. How would you feel about yourself - physically, emotionally, psychologically? Now, how about instead of an accident, picture that someone had deliberately maimed and mutilated you shortly after you were born. Just because they could do it .. because you were a helpless baby, unable to stop them. How would you feel about THAT?
QUESTION:   Are you a man? Are you normal/intact? You're a very lucky man! You already know that 95% of all the erogenous, pleasure-producing nerves in your penis are contained in the foreskin.  Are you circumcised? Have you ever stopped to think about that the most wonderful part of your body - your penis - has been mutilated? Do you realize that the most pleasurable part of your body - your foreskin - has been cut off and thrown away?
QUESTION:   Are you a parent?

The Co-occurrence of Intimate Partner Violence Against Mothers and Abuse of Children Violence against mothers by their intimate partners is a serious risk factor for child abuse. Conversely, mothers of abused children are at higher risk of being abused than mothers of non-abused children. Co-occurrence of violence against mothers and their children by intimate partners of women is critical for community advocates, child protection workers, educators and maternal and child health care providers and others to address the safety of mothers and their children. Top of Page
Scope of the Problem The concurrence "rate" of child abuse and intimate partner violence against mothers is defined as the proportion of families in the population or sample in which a woman and her child are both victims of violence by an intimate. In the mother's case, the intimate is her partner: the child may be abused by the mother's intimate partner or the battered mother. Concurrence rates vary widely in the literature; however, the quality of these studies, their data sources and their definitions of abuse also vary considerably. Approximately 20 studies exist with original data on concurrence rates. The four most rigorous studies describe concurrence rates of approximately 50%. These four studies utilized samples representative of the U.S. population, multivariate analyses or control samples.

http://www.aacap.org/publications/factsfam/chldabus.htm
C HILD A BUSE - T HE H IDDEN B RUISES No. 5 (10/92) (Updated 8/98) T he statistics on physical child abuse are alarming. It is estimated hundreds of thousands of children are physically abused each year by a parent or close relative. Thousands die. For those who survive, the emotional trauma remains long after the external bruises have healed. Communities and the courts recognize that these emotional "hidden bruises" can be treated. Early recognition and treatment is important to minimize the long term effect of physical abuse. Children who have been abused may display:
  • a poor self image
  • sexual acting out
  • inability to trust or love others
  • aggressive, disruptive, and sometimes illegal behavior
  • anger and rage
  • self destructive or self abusive behavior, suicidal thoughts
  • passive or withdrawn behavior
  • fear of entering into new relationships or activities
  • anxiety and fears
  • school problems or failure
  • feelings of sadness or other symptoms of depression
  • flashbacks, nightmares
  • drug and alcohol abuse
Often the severe emotional damage to abused children does not surface until adolescence or later, when many abused children become abusing parents. An adult who was abused as a child often has trouble establishing intimate personal relationships. These men and women may have trouble with physical closeness, touching, intimacy, and trust as adults. They are also at higher risk for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, medical illness, and problems at school or work. Without proper treatment, physically abused children can be damaged for life. Early identification and treatment is important to minimize the long-term consequences of abuse. Child and adolescent psychiatrists provide comprehensive evaluation and care for children who have been abused. The family can be helped to learn new ways of support and communicating with one another. Through treatment, the abused child begins to regain a sense of self-confidence and trust.

Child Sexual Abuse Doesn't Always End in Tragedy “All sexual abuse is damaging, and the trauma does not end when the abuse stops. If you were abused as a child, you are probably experiencing long-term effects that interfere with your day-to-day functioning” – The Courage to Heal This site is here to prove that statement wrong. Not ALL sexual abuse ends in tragedy. I’ve put it up to say, hey, I’m OK, I’m not mad. It happened, and I’m fine. I put up this site because I recently discovered that there’s a psychological term for my experience. Previously I’d wondered if I was alone in this. Now I know. The term is “ Asymptomatic Sometimes “asymptomatic victim”. It refers to a child or person who is not displaying any of the symptoms of child sexual abuse (CSA). This is not a site condoning pedophilia. Nor is it "denial". Read here for an explanation.

    Child Sexual Abuse
    By Linda Cain
It was one of those special days. My first parent/teacher meeting for my 5 year old daughter, Jenny. As I walk down the hall to the classroom, I see all the self-portraits of the children in Jenny's kindergarten class. I look closely at each child's drawing; at how they view themselves. Kevin's drawing is a tiny little face with a big smile. Amanda's picture is full of bright colors. Jessica drew a happy face. Then I spot Jenny's name. As I move my eyes up to her drawing, I feel the familiar horror and pain. My child's drawing is completely covered in black. My child is a victim of child sexual abuse. Before you begin. A
    Child Sexual Abuse
Child molestation is no longer a secret or something that can only happen to other people. It crosses all socio-economic levels. Sex offenders come in all shapes and sizes, from any part of society and can be of any sexual preference. The chance is great, that the victim knows the offender. Child Sexual Abuse occurs, when sexual activity such as exposure of genitalia, fondling, intercourse, oral sex, or pornography (exposure to or involvement in) is enacted with a minor; by a person who holds power over the event. The power difference eliminates consent. If your child tells you that something happened-Listen.
There are behaviors that children who have been victimized exhibit:
Hyperactivity Depression Changes in eating habits Changes in sleeping habits Difficulty at bath time

    77. False Allegations Of Child Abuse
Information from someone available as a medical expert in cases in which he's convinced that an allegation of child abuse is false.
    http://www.pathguy.com/abuse.htm
False Allegations of Child Abuse When I was an associate medical examiner for Jackson County, I got a lot of enjoyment from assisting with the prosecution of real criminals, and putting bad people where they belong. When child abuse has really occurred, it is a dreadful thing, and the perpectrators deserve to be punished as examples to others. The system is imperfect, and occasionally an innocent person is accused on bad medical evidence. Once the initial error is made, it is very hard to stop the process. On the strength of this evidence, the Department of Human Services told the court, "The perpetrator has been identified" as the grandfather, the evidence being that he owned a Hallowe'en mask. They told him that if he admitted his crime and got counselling, the child would be restored to the mother. The entire family refused. I was the sole medical witness for the defense, which I took for free. We won. From now on, I am available as a medical expert in other cases in which I'm convinced that an allegation of child abuse is false. I do not charge for an initial chat. Please place links to my page as you think would be useful. For more resources for anyone falsely accused of child abuse, click

I have created this site for the sole benefit of children all over the world. No longer can we, as mothers, stand by and watch our children die. We must show our local, state and federal government that we are a force that will no longer be quiet. We must stand up and hear the cries of the children all over the world. Not only hear them, but we must also help them! Help them to be what God intended them to be. SAFE! We must begin to let the government know that Child Abuse is not something that we accept. Our society has rolled over on this issue far long enough. We have accepted it far long enough. We live in a society where children are mutilated, tortured, destroyed physically, sexually and emotionally on a minute by minute basis. This is accepted by our society. If it were not it would not be so. Our laws and legislation are useless and powerless. All branches of our Government refuse to take the steps needed to put an end to this horror.
