Hays Influence of Stress Management Workshop on Perceived Family Support and State Anxiety Levels of Full-time Nursing Students The purpose of this study was to examine full-time nursing students and the impact of a stress management intervention on state anxiety and their perception of family support. Five research questions were posed. They were: What is the difference in nursing student perception of family support pre- and post-stress management intervention? What is the difference in nursing student expression of state anxiety pre-stress and management intervention? What is the relationship between state trait anxiety of nursing students pre- and post-stress management intervention? What are the relationships among family support and state and trait anxiety in nursing students pre- and post-stress management intervention? Are there suggested influences of certain demographic variables on nursing student expression of family support and state and trait anxiety? The sample in this study consisted of 13 first-year nursing students randomly selected at a two-year community college in rural southern Illinois. Each subject completed instruments consisting of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, 1983), Familial Support Semantic Differential, and demographic data. The purpose of the study was to assess the level of patient satisfaction pertaining to family nurse practitioner services in St. Francois County, Missouri. The data analysis also described the influence that age, gender, race, marital status, educational level, income, insurance provider, and why the appointment with the family nurse practitioner was made, had on the satisfaction of patients receiving health care services from family nurse practitioners. The design of the study was quantitative and descriptive to correlate the concept of patient satisfaction with family nurse practitioner services through structured data collection and statistical data analysis. The revised version of the DiTomasso-Willard Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire, a 46-item questionnaire using a 4-point Likert response scale, along with a demographic data sheet were used to gather data. The offices of two family nurse practitioners were the sites for the study's data collection. Both offices were located in St. Francois County, Missouri. A sample size of 64 was achieved.

The AIDS Ministry Ecumenical Network Black Women For Wellness Black Women for Wellness (BWW) is a grassroots organization located in the Leimert Park area of central Los Angeles. The BWW mission is to connect women with each other; by weaving together the health care community, they're enhancing the health and well-being of Black women, as well as reducing health disparities and mortality in this community. They are implementing a 12-month PYPTH program from January to December 2003. The program focuses on all twelve PYPTH themes, and participants will attend monthly workshops at BWW. Approximately 50 participants are enrolled. Boston Black Woman's Health Initiative The Boston Black Woman's Health Initiative (BBWHI) is a grassroots self-help and advocacy organization focused on the neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan, where the largest numbers of Boston's more than 50,000 Black women live. Gadsden University of Pennsylvania Rather than conceptualizing the racial, ethnic, and cultural histories of learners as an addendum to design and conduct, programs must assess the strengths and knowledge voids that their staff members bring to the task of teaching and the cultural assets and individual limitations that the populations they serve contribute to the learning environment. This paper focuses on the issues of race, culture, and class, and their implications for instruction and learning in family literacy programs. However, the discussion presented in the paper reconfigures the question assumed in the title. Rather than asking learners to justify their cultural and social histories, it is presupposed that programs will assume responsibility for seeking out this information as an essential part of program development, and that they can and will pose the issues for themselves.
