    SN1-Reaction
    First Order Nucleophilic Substitution.
The nucleophilic substitution of a chloro atom by a fluoride ion is described. The reaction is catalysed by a proton. A proton attacks the chloro atom and forms hydrochloric acid. A tertiary carbon cation is formed as an intermediate (planar). From the right side hydrofluoric acid flies in. A proton is lost and t-butylfluoride is formed.
    SN2-Reaction
    Second Order Nucleophilic Substitution.

    http://www.chem.ox.ac.uk/dp/
Organic Chemistry at the University of Oxford The Dyson Perrins Laboratory is the UK's premier academic laboratory for research in Organic Chemistry. It is situated near the centre of Oxford's Science Area, with easy access to libraries, colleges and the city centre. In the summer of 2003 the complete facility will move to a purpose-built new laboratory situated on the opposite side of South Parks Road. This new environment, shared with many other research groups from the Chemistry faculty, will create increasing opportunities and resources for interdisciplinary research at the boundaries with both Biology and Materials, expected to be prolific growth areas for Organic Chemistry. The resources in the DP are fitting for a laboratory of international stature. Particular emphasis is placed on NMR , and Mass Spectrometry , where the diverse facilities available to researchers are world class. In addition there is a shared Chemistry resource in X-ray crystallography , permitting rapid and easy acquisition of structural data. At both the laboratory and University level the library facilities are excellent, with increasing emphasis on electronic access to journals and databases. An intensive

    Organic Chemistry Tutorial Webs
These Organic Chemistry webs were designed by the author when he was taking Organic Chemistry at The George Washington University. They are a series of five pages depicting generalized organic reactions, showing how to convert one functional group into another. Students who have used them have found them to be rather helpful, when studying for exam in the second semester of Organic Chemistry at The George Washington University. They also prove very helpful when studying for the MCAT examination. They are provided here in Adobe PDF format for all those who would like them for their own personal use. They may be freely distributed, assumming that they are not altered in any manner, and that no fee is charged for their distribution.

    76. Package: Areas/reasonng/chem/congen/
Developed in 1980, The DENDRAL Project delt with analysis of molecular structure in organic chemistry. The chemical and physical properties of compounds are determined not just by their constituent atoms, but by the arrangement of these atoms as well. The CONGEN program implements the general (acyclic and cyclic) generation algorithm in a system that allows a chemist to constrain its enumeration in a variety of ways.
